Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report:
Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2024! We hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year with friends and family.
We got out on the water for a couple of days and had some solid crappie action on Allatoona this first week of 2024. Tuesday, we had 3 boats fishing the North End of the lake from Little River down to Victoria. The water had a heavy stain so we were using bright solid colors due to the water clarity. We were testing out a couple of new colors this week that caught several. If you fish cold, muddy Allatoona water you better have on an orange colored bait or a bait with orange in it! Our two New 2024 test colors are DreamSickle & GoldCrush (Pending Production).
We were trolling 1/24 oz and 1/16 oz jig heads from .5 - .9 mph. The crappie have not schooled up in packs yet, we are still seeing a lot of roaming single and double fish so you will need to cover a lot of water while trolling. We stayed in water from 12' - 18' and saw crappie suspended anywhere from 4' (1/24 oz. Jig Head Territory) to 8' (1/16 oz. Jig Head Territory). Each boat had 18 - 25 fish with several keepers. No real big slabs but we did have a couple of 1 pounders. It is only going to get better between now and spring time! The colors & styles that were working for us in stained/muddy water were: CopperHead Dagger, CopperHead Slab Dragon, Carrot Stick Talon 2.0, Flo Pink Pepper Razor, Sasquatch Kic'n Chic'n and June Bug Kic'n Chic'n.

Hopefully this report will help you the next time you are crappie fishing on Lake Allatoona. Lord willing we will have another great report next week!
