Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report:
We hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully everyone got some downtime to eat, relax, watch football and most importantly spend some quality time outdoors! The Red Rooster team was on the lake as much as possible. We ain't gonna lie folks...the wind was rough the week of Thanksgiving. The cooler temps are coming and that means the water temp is cooling off as well. The troll bite is about to bust open...but still not quite there. The first part of the week was tough...we only managed a few fish on Monday. The latter part of the week was better in terms of size but not quantity. The crappie are starting to school and move in the mouths of the creeks. They are suspended anywhere from 6-12' in 16-25' deep water. There are a lot of good sized ROAMING slabs...if you catch one of those...you're in for a fight! We are still catching the majority of our fish casting to them when we see them on front facing sonar. They are pretty active and very aggressive when caught! The fish are real spooky right now and we have noticed that if you get within 30-35' of the school with the trolling motor...they scatter and move around. They will eventually regroup but they may move 100 yards before that happens.
Make sure to download the Red Rooster Long Line Trolling Guide for tips on how to troll for Allatoona Crappie.
Hopefully this report will help you the next time you are crappie fishing on Lake Allatoona. Lord willing we will have another great report next week!
