Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report:
To say the 3rd week of January 2025 was cold would be an understatement! We were in the deep freeze for most of the week with very little fishing but there were a few who got out before the winter weather paid us a visit this week. Whether we catch fish or not we like to put out a report for historical purposes so we can look back at our reports and see what was going on this time last year or in the year to come. If you haven't taken the time to get your rods, reels and tackle organized for upcoming trips now is the time to do so! Take some time to get all of your affairs in order because we expect warming trends and the crappie to turn on when the weather and the water warm up. With the lake being down 12' it will not take long at all for the shallow creeks to warm up first and that's where the crappie will start moving. The action will be fast and furious in no time at all! With that being said our buddy Hunter Moore with Moore Outdoorz Fishing Guide Service took some clients out at the beginning of the week before the weather turned and had some great success. Several large slabs were caught hiding out in deep water areas close to structure and docks. He was pitching Red Rooster Daggers in the new UV colors (UV Melon, UV Smoke, UV Phantom & UV Shad) on a 1/16th oz. jig head and letting the jig slowly drop and then slowly reeling back to the top. This vertical jigging technique seemed to be working for these cold water crappie. If you are looking to learn more about catching cold water crappie on Lake Allatoona give Hunter a call and schedule a trip, you will be glad you did! Lord willing we will have another report for you next week. Be sure to check out the archives for January 2024 and see what we were doing this time last year!

Verse of the Week: But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31.
If you are like me, you can hardly remember the holidays that were only 3 weeks ago! We are right back into the hustle and bustle of life with our jobs, housework, appointments and work schedules. The only time most of us have to slow down is during the holidays and maybe a summer vacation. The rigors of life happen faster and faster these days. That is why it is important to take a breath each day whether in the morning or the evening and spend some time "waiting on the Lord". When I say "waiting on the Lord", I mean purposely taking a moment to spend some time alone and in quiet to reflect on what God has done for you through out the day. Spend time in His word and in prayer and let Him "renew your strength". We serve a loving God who does not grow weary or faint and can restore your strength when you need it most. Make time for Him today and let him give you rest and comfort during your daily struggles and trials.
