We are in mid-April and the crappie are exactly where they should be this time of year and it doesn't matter if you are on a boat or on the bank you can catch 'em with a bobber and a minnow or bobber and a jig in shallow cuts around docks or any type of structure.

The rain and the cool front didn't do us any favors this past week. It was slow going and we struggled against the muddy water and trash in the water. The winds came in a helped blow the trash to the bank and by the middle of the week and we were able to start finding some active fish.

We were blessed with a couple of nice days this past week with little to no wind and was able to get on the water and snag some of those Lake Allatoona crappie. The annual lake drawdown is really changing the landscape of the lake! The water level is down to almost 826', which is 14' down from full pool or 840'. This changes where you troll this time of year as the humps and points are exposed which means you have quite a bit more open water.

The weather was back in the 70's this week and was a great week for chasing slabs on Lake Allatoona. The trolling bite is starting to pick up with the water temps ranging from 55 - 60 degrees. The crappie are starting to school up and move around which is a good indicator it's time to put those trolling rods to work!
