We were blessed with a couple of nice days this past week with little to no wind and was able to get on the water and snag some of those Lake Allatoona crappie. The annual lake drawdown is really changing the landscape of the lake! The water level is down to almost 826', which is 14' down from full pool or 840'. This changes where you troll this time of year as the humps and points are exposed which means you have quite a bit more open water.

Trolling season is just getting started on Lake Altoona and it is only going to get better throughout the winter and into Spring! We had a couple of great days on the water this past week trolling for Lake Allatoona crappie! The first part of the week was good until the wind started kicking up which can be a major deterrent to long line trolling.

The first week of December was not very kind to the crappie fishing on Lake Allatoona! We got out a couple of days but the sudden drop in temperatures from last week made for sluggish, non-aggressive crappie. Once the temperatures level out and stabilize the trolling will be in full swing.
