Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report

The April weather has really been up and down over the last few weeks with rain, wind and temperature fluctuation which has had a negative impact on our crappie fishing. We are in a bit of a transition from winter to spring as well as pre-spawn, spawn and post-spawn. As the water temps continue to rise the crappie can be found in a wide range of areas. You should begin your search in shallow waters with any type of cover. We are finding crappie anywhere from 2' to 8' currently. We got out on the lake a couple of days (weather permitting) and were still able to pick up a few trolling in 5' to 8' of water. We trolled at .7 - .9 mph using 1/24th and 1/16th oz. jig heads. There are a few folks pitching bobbers with a 1/32nd oz. jig head set at 12" to 18" under the bobber. A steady cast and retrieve will also work this time of year. Cast a paddle tail jig like the Kic'n Chic'n or Kic'n Chic'n XL with a 1/32nd oz. jig head around docks and laydowns will net you a few crappie as well as spotted bass this time of year. We had a tough week to be honest as the weather is still on the verge of stabilizing. We expect better days soon as we move into late April and May! One thing to note is that Allatoona is really clear right now and should be until fall/winter so you will want to be using natural colors as much as possible. You can't go wrong with Blue Glimmer, UV Shad, UV Melon, UV Smoke...anything watermelon or green/brown or gray. Now is the time to be using those types of colors. When you think natural...think translucent on sunny days and opaque/solids on cloudy or low light conditions.

If you are new to fishing and want to learn more about electronics, jig head sizes, jig colors and more be sure to tune in to FRIDAY NIGHT BITES which is a 30 minute Facebook livestream that we do on "Most" Friday Nights around 7PM you might learn something or teach us something new!

If you don't know what colors to choose check out our Combo Packs, this will save you a lot of time with proven stained and clear water colors. Lord willing we will have another report for you next week. Be sure to check out the archives for April 2024 and see what we were doing this time last year!

Verse of the Week: Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last. ~ Luke 23:44-46.

Good Friday is on April 18th which is a day that we observe as the day that Jesus was crucified. It was anything but "good" in the normal sense of the term. Jesus was betrayed, secretly tried by religious leaders in the middle of the night, brutally whipped and beaten by Roman soldiers and then nailed to a cross until he died. Why was a good man crucified? Jesus wasn't crucified for what he did...Jesus was crucified for WHO HE SAID HE WAS. Remember this...Either Jesus IS WHO HE said he was or he was not. But we all have a decision to make about "who we say Jesus is".  May God bless everyone who reads this report and I pray that you will have a blessed and Happy Easter Resurrection Sunday!

Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. C. S. Lewis
