Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report:
The last full week of March 2025 was a fantastic week for Lake Allatoona crappie fishing! We had to plan our trips around the wind but we were able to get out and catch some nice pre-spawn slabs! As we noted in previous reports, March is typically a month that produces storms and a lot of wind so you need to check your weather forecast and schedule your fishing days accordingly for an optimum fishing experience. But sometimes you only have certain days/times that you can go so you get on the water and make the best of it! We use a phone app called "WillyWeather" (or you can visit the webpage here) to see the wind forecast for Lake Allatoona. Our experience has shown that it is pretty accurate! The water temperature is starting to get into the 60 degree mark which means that the Allatoona crappie are starting to make their way into shallow water and spawning areas. Trolling was very productive this past week and many folks we know had limits of keeper crappie between 10" and 12". We also caught several slabs between 12" and 14" so the big un's are getting frisky. We were trolling in depth's between 6' - 12' using 1/24th and 1/16th oz. jig heads and underspins at speeds between .9 - 1 mph. We targeted creeks and spawning flats as these areas are very active right now. The crappie that were caught were very aggressive and a lot of fun to fight! We do like to stress conservation as much as possible because we want to keep our lake stocked for years to come. Please keep only what you can keep and eat and if you catch a crappie over 12" consider letting it go as those big crappie are the key to keeping a lake well populated. In a couple of weeks you will want to break out the corks and start throwing to the banks as the spawn runs it's course. We actually saw a couple of throwing bobbers already, but we are still in trolling mode for the best experience. Look for cuts, stickups, laydowns, tree tops and cover in general. Corks and small jigs like the Dagger and the Georgia Razor are fantastic choices under corks when the time comes. As always, a small crappie minnow under a cork is a tried and true method for catching shallow bank roaming crappie. If you are new to fishing and want to learn more about electronics, jig head sizes, jig colors and more be sure to tune in to FRIDAY NIGHT BITES which is a 30 minute Facebook livestream that we do on "Most" Friday Nights around 7PM you might learn something or teach us something new!
If you don't know what colors to choose check out our Combo Packs, this will save you a lot of time with proven stained and clear water colors. Lord willing we will have another report for you next week. Be sure to check out the archives for March 2024 and see what we were doing this time last year!

Verse of the Week: For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:18.
I have heard it said that "Everyone is equal at the foot of the cross". It doesn’t matter who we are, every single one of us has sinned against God. We are all equal at the foot of the cross; we are all equally in need of mercy. Our sin prevents us from having a personal relationship with God, for God is perfectly holy and cannot be in the presence of sin. When Jesus, who lived a perfect, sinless life was crucified, his blood covered both mine and your sin. I know who and what I was BEFORE Jesus and I know who I am IN Christ which is a new creation and an adopted child into God's family. I am sorry that Jesus had to pay my sin debt but I am and will be eternally grateful for his grace and mercy. May God bless everyone who reads this report and I pray that you will have a blessed week!
