Allatoona Weekly Crappie Fishing Report

The last full week of January was horrible...BUT NOT THIS WEEK! The Crappie fishing was ON FIRE! We have been waiting for two months for the crappie bite to take off and the wait is over!

Jeff "Crappieman" Albright of CrappieMan Allatoona Crappie Guide Service started things off this week on Tuesday with a bang. They had 63 hookups and 31 keepers (10" crappie or better). They fished the north end of the lake and caught crappie in six different places. They were trolling double rigs (2 x 1/32nd oz. jig heads 16 to 20" apart) at .9 to 1 mph. Jeff likes to tip his jigs with minnows when the bite gets slow.

Jake Turner of Main Line Fishing Charters, had a great day Thursday & Friday at different areas from the S-Turns to the north end of the lake. They took home 30 good keepers and had great luck trolling 1/16th oz. jig heads at .9 to 1.1 mph. Their favorite colors are Jive Turquee Orange or Chartreuse, Pappy's Magic and Cajun Chicken.

There were also good reports coming out of Stamp Creek where several good size crappie were caught in that area. The water is stained but clearer in that part of the lake so June Bug and Pappy's Magic were doing well in that area.

A big 2lb Crappie was caught on a Tre's Gold Kic'n Chic'n while trolling a 1/16th oz. jig head at .7 mph right around sun down. Just about the time they were about to reel up the rods and call it a day...WHAMMO...the big one jumped on the Kic'n Chic'n and fought like a hybrid.

Hopefully this report will help you the next time you are crappie fishing on Lake Allatoona. Lord willing we will have another great report next week!
